Hello, my name’s Rikku. I’m 17 now. I grew up in Home on Bikanel Island. Home is a town that my people used to live, until it was destroyed. Oh, right, I’m an Al Bhed. The Al Bhed are outcasts because we use machina. I myself am not that bad with machina and I can fix most of them. I use to up until I was 15 and the Calm started. After the Calm started I went around teaching people about the machina.
I’m now a sphere hunter. I hunt with my cousin Yuna and my friend Paine. I don’t know much about Paine cause she don’t like talking about herself. I traveled for a while with Yuna before as her guardian though. I wasn’t her only guardian; she had a whole bunch of them. There was Kimhari who is now the Ronso elder, and Auron who has traveled to the Farplane after being dead for a long time. Lets see… there’s Wakka and Lulu, they’re married now and are gonna have a baby soon!
Then there was him. His name is Tidus. He was Yunie’s guardian too. He vanished after the fight with Sin, and Yunie’s been looking for clues to where he is now. I found one, a sphere on one of my hunts before Yunie joined. He was in it, or someone who really looks like him. The sphere is why she joined me and Paine.
We don’t work alone. We have help from Brother; he’s really my brother. We also have help from Buddy who finds spheres for us, and Shinra the boy genius. He helps with the technical stuff, like watching the spheres. He also keeps a record of monsters and people for us. There’s also Barkeep, a Hypello. He runs the bar on the airship, and the store too.
Oh, the airship. The airship is the Cereus. It’s cool! It’s all red and colorful. It’s got a couple of levels to it and you can stand on the top while it’s flying. We use it to travel all over Spira. It’s like the only airship so everyone wants to fly on it and stuff.
Oh, wait, I should go back. See, Yuna used to be a summoner, and summoners could call up aeons to fight. They were so important because aeons were the only way to defeat Sin. Sin was a really huge monster. He was so big that we actually flew an airship inside him! He was really destructive though, and the Yevonites said it was because of machina. I still think that’s not true, but Sin sure was.
So, anyway, Yuna’s job as a summoner was to go on a pilgrimage to Znarkand, City of the Dead. It was destroyed a thousand years ago. Zanarkand, though, was where the Final Aeon was. According to Yevon, only the Final Aeon could defeat Sin, so you had to have it. The road to Znarkand though is filled with fiends. Since a summoner can’t really fight without an aeon they need a guardian. The guardians would protect the summoner from harm until the battle with Sin. Only thing though was to use the Final Aeon the summoner must die.
I couldn’t let the summoners go die only to have Sin show up ten years later. It was a stupid waste. I thought that there was another way to defeat him, and I was right too. Anyway, my pop and I would kidnap summoners and take them to Home. Out of three tries to kidnap Yunie, one failed badly, the second one I did and Tidus hit me really hard, and the last one actually worked and she was taken to Home with the other summoners.
After my attempt to kidnap Yunie, I joined her as her guardian. Then we went to Zanarkand and we defeated Sin and Tidus vanished and all that stuff. Oh, guess what? I used to have keraunophobia I think that’s what it’s called. See, keraunophobia is the fear of thunder and lightning. It was from this one time I was with my brother and we were on the beach. We were attacked by a fiend and he cast a lightning spell to scare it away. He missed! He hit me instead! So, ever since then I had a fear of lightning.
I didn’t really have a problem with it until after I became Yunie’s guardian and she had to travel across the Thunder Plains. I barely made it across I was so scared. So, after we beat Sin I went back to the Thunder Plains and camped there for a week just so I could get over my fear, and I did too!
So, anyway, I don’t know what will happen once Yunie finds the sphere she’s looking for. I’m sure that it’ll be good. As for me? I think that I might still live on the Celcius. |
