Another favorite activity of mine around the holidays is sitting down and watching the Christmas specials on tv. I remember one year there were so many on that aired on television. I was practically Christmas specials all day on every channel. Cartoon Network, before all the good cartoons got switched to Boomerang, aired all their holiday episodes of all their cartoons and even aired this one Christmas movie, whose name I cannot remember. It was an animated story about how Santa Claus came to be, but nowhere near similar to Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
That same year I remember seeing a holiday special that focused on a boy and girl. From what I can recall from my memory, I think they were orphans living in a convent or Catholic orphanage. Only thing I remember from this special was that the girl was probably blind because at the end they are singing in a choir and it starts to snow. The boy doesn’t know what’s going on but he’s describing it the girl and she tells him that it’s snow. If anyone reading this knows what this special is called, please the leave the name in the comments, because I have never seen it aired since then.
My favorite Christmas special is hands down Santa Claus is Coming to Town. There was one year I literally watched it every day. I know practically all the words, just not the Kringle elves’ names. I tend to start mumbling or repeating the same name with that role call. I know everyone loves Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer but for me, it just isn’t Christmas without Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
My number two is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The Grinch is my favorite Christmas character and bonus: he’s voiced by Boris Karloff! This movie was another staple of my childhood. I loved watching it every time it came on tv and even went to see the live action film when it was out in theaters. It’s a Christmas goal of mine to add more of the Grinch to my Christmas décor. Did you know that there is going to be a new Grinch film coming out this year? Here is to hoping that it’s good.
